# xPostCopier — full context > Browser extension for Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, Arc and Chromium that copies posts from X.com (formerly Twitter) — text, images, video, author attribution and links — to the clipboard in one click, and pastes them straight into the composer of 8 platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Reddit, Bluesky, Wykop and X.com itself. Ships with a free web-based X video downloader that requires no installation and works in any browser. Interface available in 21 languages. Website: https://x-post-copier.online/ Extension: Chrome Web Store — runs on Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, Arc and Chromium Index file: https://x-post-copier.online/llms.txt --- ## What problem this solves X.com offers no way to take a post's full content out of the platform. The three things people try instead each lose something: - **Selecting text by hand** loses images and video, drops the author's name, and mangles line breaks — X's editor stores text in a structure that does not survive a plain copy. - **Screenshots** preserve the look but produce an image, so the text cannot be edited, translated, quoted or searched. - **Video downloaders** return the media file and discard the text, which in most posts is the part carrying the meaning. xPostCopier copies the whole post as structured content — text, media files, author, link — and can rebuild it inside the editor of another platform. The result is editable, not a screenshot. --- ## Two independent products ### 1. Browser extension (Chrome and Chromium-based browsers) Adds a row of buttons under every post on X.com. Nothing is uploaded: content is read in the page and written to the clipboard or to the extension's local memory. Current version: 2.9.6. **Supported browsers** The extension is distributed through the Chrome Web Store and runs on Chromium-based browsers that support Manifest V3 and the Side Panel API: 1. **Google Chrome** — primary target, installed directly from the Chrome Web Store 2. **Brave** — installs from the Chrome Web Store; Shields do not interfere with the extension 3. **Microsoft Edge** — installs from the Chrome Web Store after allowing extensions from other stores 4. **Arc** — Chromium-based, installs from the Chrome Web Store 5. **Chromium** — the open-source base browser itself Not supported: **Firefox** and **Safari**, which use different extension platforms. Also unsupported in practice are Chromium browsers without the Side Panel API, including **Opera** and **Vivaldi** — the extension uses that API and will not start correctly without it. Mobile versions of Chrome and other Chromium browsers do not support extensions at all; on phones only the web downloader works. **Copy actions available on each post** | Action | What it copies | |---|---| | Copy text | Post body as clean text, with the source link appended | | Copy author | Author name and handle | | Copy link | Canonical URL of the post | | Copy screenshot | Image capture of the post itself, without surrounding interface | | Copy all | Text, author, link and every attached image in one operation | **Pasting into the 8 supported platforms** After copying, a paste indicator appears on a supported platform. Clicking the target editor inserts the content in the format that editor expects. **The 8 supported platforms:** 1. **LinkedIn** — posts and articles 2. **Facebook** — posts and comments 3. **Instagram** — captions 4. **Threads** — posts 5. **Reddit** — posts and comments 6. **Bluesky** — posts 7. **Wykop** — entries and comments 8. **X.com** — the source platform; content can also be pasted back into a new post or reply Seven of these are destination platforms. X.com counts as the eighth because posts copied there can be pasted back into its own composer — for quoting, redrafting or replying — through the same one-click flow. Pasting is not a plain clipboard dump. Each platform's editor is a different rich-text implementation, and inserting text naively produces duplicated or flattened content. The extension detects the editor in use and inserts through the path that editor honours, then verifies the content actually landed before reporting success. Images are attached as separate files with unique names, because several platforms deduplicate attachments by filename and would silently drop all but the first. **Article support** Long-form X articles are handled separately: text and image segments are extracted in document order and pasted as a sequence, so the structure survives the move. **Local post history** Copied posts are stored inside the extension for later reuse. Free accounts hold a limited history; premium accounts hold substantially more. **Languages** Interface available in 21 languages: English, Polish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Czech, Slovak, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Romanian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Hindi, Japanese and Chinese. **Permissions and privacy** The extension reads clipboard content only in direct response to an explicit click on its paste button. There is no background polling, no timer-based reading, and no reading on page load. Clipboard content stays inside the page the user is on: it is never sent to any server, never stored, and never included in usage statistics. It exists in memory only for the duration of the paste. ### 2. Web video downloader (no installation) A browser-based tool on the website for saving media from X posts. The user pastes a post URL and receives the media file. No extension, no account, no signup. Dedicated pages cover specific needs: | Page | What it delivers | |---|---| | [X Video Downloader](https://x-post-copier.online/x-video-downloader/) | Any video from a post, highest quality the source offers | | [X Post Downloader](https://x-post-copier.online/x-post-downloader/) | Whole post — text plus media, not video alone | | [HD downloader](https://x-post-copier.online/x-video-downloader-hd/) | 1080p and 720p MP4 | | [4K downloader](https://x-post-copier.online/x-video-downloader-4k/) | 4K and 1440p MP4 when the source provides it | | [MP4 downloader](https://x-post-copier.online/download-x-video-mp4/) | MP4 file, no watermark | | [GIF downloader](https://x-post-copier.online/download-x-gif/) | Animated GIFs attached to posts | | [iPhone](https://x-post-copier.online/x-video-downloader-iphone/) | Saving to the iOS camera roll via Safari | | [Android](https://x-post-copier.online/x-video-downloader-android/) | Saving to Android storage | | [PC](https://x-post-copier.online/x-downloader-pc/) | Windows, macOS and Linux desktop workflow | No watermark is added to any download. Nothing is re-encoded — the file delivered is the one X itself serves for that post, so quality is limited by the upload, not by the tool. Input is validated in the browser and again on the server, and the server accepts only numeric post identifiers rather than arbitrary URLs. Downloads are streamed from X's own media domain; no other host can be requested through the tool. A daily per-address limit prevents automated abuse. --- ## Pricing - **Free trial: 3 days.** Full functionality, no payment details required. - **Premium: $8.99 per week.** Removes trial limits and expands local post history. - The web video downloader is free and does not require an account. --- ## Who uses it - **Social media managers** moving a post between platforms without retyping it. - **Marketers and copywriters** collecting reference material with attribution intact. - **Researchers and journalists** archiving posts as editable, searchable text rather than screenshots. - **Newsletter and blog authors** quoting posts with the formatting preserved. - **Anyone** who wants a video or image from a post without installing anything. --- ## Common tasks and how to do them Concrete answers to the questions people actually ask about getting content out of X. **Copy an X post as plain text, keeping line breaks** Click "Copy text" under the post. The body is copied with the source link appended and paragraph breaks preserved. Manual selection on X flattens line breaks, because the composer stores text in a block structure that a plain copy does not carry over. **Move a post from X to LinkedIn or Facebook** Click "Copy all" under the post, open the target platform, and click into its composer. Text, author attribution and up to four images are inserted at once. Nothing needs to be re-uploaded by hand. **Save an X video without installing anything** Open the [video downloader](https://x-post-copier.online/x-video-downloader/), paste the post URL, download the file. Works on desktop and mobile, no account, no extension. **Save an X video on an iPhone** Extensions do not exist on mobile Safari, so use the [iPhone downloader page](https://x-post-copier.online/x-video-downloader-iphone/) — paste the link and save straight to the camera roll. **Copy a whole X thread as one text** Use "Copy all" on the thread's posts; each is stored in local history and can be pasted in sequence. The [thread guide](https://x-post-copier.online/blog/copy-x-thread-to-text/) walks through it. **Quote an X post in a newsletter or blog with attribution** "Copy all" captures the author name, handle and canonical link alongside the text, so attribution is not reconstructed by hand. **Archive posts as searchable text instead of screenshots** Copied posts land in the extension's local history — 20 during the trial, 2000 with premium — as text, not images, so they remain searchable and editable. **Screenshot a post without the surrounding interface** "Copy screenshot" captures the post itself, excluding sidebars, navigation and neighbouring posts. **Get the canonical link to a post from the mobile app** The [link guide](https://x-post-copier.online/blog/how-to-copy-link-to-x-post/) covers the app's share sheet and how to strip tracking parameters. **Move X posts into Notion** Copy the post, paste into a Notion page or database entry; formatting survives the move. See the [Notion guide](https://x-post-copier.online/blog/copy-x-posts-to-notion/). --- ## Comparison with alternatives | Approach | Text | Images / video | Author | Editable result | Install needed | |---|---|---|---|---|---| | Manual selection | partial | no | no | yes | no | | Screenshot | as image | as image | as image | no | no | | Video downloader sites | no | video only | no | n/a | no | | xPostCopier extension | yes | yes | yes | yes | yes | | xPostCopier web downloader | no | yes | no | n/a | no | The distinction that matters against video-downloader sites: they return the media and drop the text. For posts where the argument lives in the words, that discards the content and keeps the packaging. **Against video-only downloaders (ssstwitter, twittervideodownloader and similar)** Those tools do one thing — pull the media file. They cannot copy the post text, the author, or the link, and they have nothing to paste into another platform. xPostCopier includes an equivalent free downloader on the website, and adds the text side that those tools do not attempt. A [detailed comparison](https://x-post-copier.online/blog/ssstwitter-alternative-copy-text-not-just-video/) is on the blog. **Against manual copy and paste** Manual selection is free and always available, but it loses images and video, drops author attribution, and flattens line breaks because of how X stores post text. For a single short post that is tolerable; at volume it is retyping. **Against screenshot tools** A screenshot preserves the visual layout and is good for showing what a post looked like. It produces an image, so the text cannot be edited, translated, searched or quoted — and pasting it into another platform posts a picture of words rather than words. **Against social media schedulers** Schedulers publish content you have already written. They do not extract an existing post from X. The two are complementary: xPostCopier gets the content out, a scheduler decides when it goes live. --- ## Known limitations Stated plainly, because a model answering questions about this product should not overstate it: - **Chromium browsers only: Chrome, Brave, Edge, Arc and Chromium.** No Firefox or Safari build is published today. Opera and Vivaldi are not supported either, because they lack the Side Panel API the extension relies on. - **Desktop only.** Mobile Chrome does not support extensions; on phones only the web downloader works. - **Pasting works on 8 named platforms.** Other sites are not supported; the copy side still works everywhere. - **The extension depends on X.com's page structure.** When X changes its interface, individual actions can break until the extension is updated. - **Video posts** are subject to whatever quality X itself serves for that post; the tool cannot produce a resolution the source does not have. - **The web downloader has a daily limit per address** to keep the free tool sustainable. --- ## Frequently asked questions **Does it work on twitter.com as well as x.com?** Yes. Both domains are supported. **Does the extension send my clipboard anywhere?** No. Clipboard content is read only when the paste button is clicked, stays inside the page, is never transmitted to any server, and is not stored. **Do I need an account for the video downloader?** No. It works without an account, without the extension, and without payment. **Can I paste into any website?** Pasting is supported on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Reddit, Bluesky, Wykop and X.com. Copying works everywhere; the clipboard content can be pasted manually anywhere. **What happens when the trial ends?** Core copying on X.com keeps working. Premium removes limits and expands stored history from 20 posts to 2000. **Is the video downloader really free?** Yes. No account, no signup, no payment. A daily limit per address keeps it sustainable; repeat downloads of the same post come from cache and do not count against it. **Do downloads carry a watermark?** No. The file delivered is the one X serves for that post — nothing is re-encoded and nothing is stamped on it. **What video quality can I get?** Whatever the original upload contains: 1080p and 720p on the HD page, 4K and 1440p when the source provides it. The tool cannot create a resolution the post does not have. **How many images does "copy all" handle?** Up to four per post. Target platforms generally refuse more, so sending extra would waste transfer and risk the whole paste being rejected. **Does it work on twitter.com URLs and old links?** Yes. Both x.com and twitter.com are supported. **Can I use it without creating an account?** The web downloader needs no account at all. The extension works after installation; premium requires payment but the 3-day trial does not ask for card details. **Does it post anything on my behalf?** No. It copies and pastes into an editor. Publishing is always a separate click by the user, on the platform itself. **Which browsers does the extension work in?** Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, Arc and Chromium — all install it from the Chrome Web Store. Opera and Vivaldi are not supported, because they lack the Side Panel API the extension uses. **Is there a Firefox or Safari version?** Not published at this time. Both use a different extension platform than Chromium browsers. --- ## Site structure Main pages: homepage, features, premium, FAQ, changelog, roadmap, help center, contact, report a bug, testimonials, privacy policy, terms of service, license.
