Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you wanted to know about xPostCopier, organized by topic.

Installation & Setup
Which browsers are supported? +
Currently only Google Chrome (desktop). Firefox is in progress (see Roadmap). Edge and other Chromium-based browsers may work but are not officially supported yet.
Does xPostCopier work with the X.com mobile app? +
No — browser extensions only work in desktop browsers. Mobile app support is not currently planned, but a mobile browser workaround via Kiwi Browser (Android) is on our ideas list.
The extension installed but shows an error icon in the toolbar. +
Click the icon to see the error message. Common causes: (1) You're not logged in to X.com — the extension needs an active session to detect your @handle. (2) A conflicting extension is blocking the content script. Try disabling other X.com-related extensions.
Features
Can I copy posts from other people's profiles? +
Yes — you can copy any publicly visible post, including posts from profiles you don't follow, search results, and trending topics. Protected accounts' posts are not accessible if you don't follow them (X.com restriction, not ours).
Does the extension work on X.com search results? +
Yes — copy buttons appear on posts in search results, notifications, bookmarks and all other X.com pages.
Can I copy posts with images and videos? +
The copy actions copy the text content of the post. The "Copy Everything" option adds a [Media: 2 images, 1 video] note. The Screenshot feature captures the entire post card including images as they appear. Downloading media files directly is not supported.
What is attribution and how do I turn it off? +
Attribution adds a line like "via @xPostCopier" to the end of copied text. In the free Trial it's always enabled. Premium users can disable it entirely or change its format in Settings → Attribution Control.
Billing & Account
How do I cancel my subscription? +
Open the extension popup → click your avatar → Manage Account → Billing Portal. In the Stripe portal, click "Cancel Plan". You retain access until the end of the current billing period.
I was charged but the extension still shows Trial. +
This can happen if the webhook from Stripe hasn't processed yet. Wait 2 minutes, then click UPDATE in the popup handle bar to force a sync. If still not resolved after 10 minutes, contact us at [email protected] with your Stripe receipt.
Do you store my X.com password or personal data? +
No. We never see or store your X.com password. The extension reads your logged-in session via standard browser storage. The optional Google login uses OAuth2 — we receive only your email and name, never your Google password. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Troubleshooting
Copy buttons disappeared after a X.com update. +
X.com occasionally changes its DOM structure, which can break content scripts. We monitor this and usually push a fix within 24–48 hours. Check Changelog for the latest patch. In the meantime, hard-refresh X.com and make sure you have the latest extension version.
Screenshot produces a blank or partial image. +
This can happen with (1) hardware acceleration disabled in Chrome — re-enable it in chrome://settings/system, (2) very long posts — try the screenshot on a shorter post first, (3) conflicting display extensions like "Dark Reader" — temporarily disable them.
How do I reset the extension to factory defaults? +
Go to chrome://extensions, find xPostCopier, click Details → Clear Site Data. This wipes all local settings and history. Your cloud-synced posts (if you're logged in via Google) will re-sync on next open.
